Tavish Nanda, M.D.

Tavish Nanda, MD grew up in San Francisco, California before moving to Los Angeles for undergrad – where he studied biology and screenwriting at the University of Southern California. After four years he switched coasts, pursuing his medical degree and residency training at Columbia University in New York City, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Nanda then completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina at Tufts University / Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in Boston, Massachusetts. As one of the top fellowships in the country, Dr. Nanda has experience with all elements of surgical retina, from complex tractional detachments to secondary IOL placement.

Dr. Nanda is board certified in ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. Over the years he’s published a myriad of first author papers and presented on both the national and international stage. During fellowship he also served as a sub-investigator for over two dozen clinical trials, including Vabysmo and Syfovre.

Dr. Nanda also has a longstanding interest and commitment to global health, having served as a global impact fellow in Ghana, where he performed retina surgery for patients living in poverty. Over the years he’s led medical mission trips to Israel, Mexico, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Nanda has always been drawn to the finesse and detail of ophthalmology. He greatly values the ability to restore vision and improve the quality of life in his patients. Outside of medicine, Dr. Nanda enjoys skiing, traveling, and creative writing. He looks forward to bringing his family to the Hartford area and exploring everything Connecticut has to offer.

Noam Rudnick, M.D., Ph.D.

Noam Rudnick, M.D., Ph.D., grew up in Hamden, CT and received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. He then joined the Harvard Ophthalmology Residency Program at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, where he received several awards including the Gragoudas-Folkman Award for research and a Heed Foundation Fellowship. He completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the renowned Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Rudnick is board certified in ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented at many national conferences. He is trained to manage all types of retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, complex retinal detachments, macular holes and macular pucker/epiretinal membranes. He has an interest in clinical research, and as the director of the clinical trials program at Retina Consultants, he is excited to bring state-of-the-art therapies to his patients in central Connecticut.

In his free time, Dr. Rudnick enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He enjoys running, playing squash, cooking and traveling.

Greg Budoff, M.D.

Greg Budoff, MD grew up in Princeton, NJ and received his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He went to medical school and obtained his residency training in New Jersey at Rutgers University, where he was chosen by the faculty to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Budoff completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retinal disease at the world-renowned UCLA – Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles, CA – a leading training institution in the world of ophthalmology. He is well-trained to manage all vitreoretinal diseases, but has a particular interest in complicated retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy and macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, and secondary intraocular lens surgeries.

Board certified in ophthalmology, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Budoff is a frequent presenter at national conferences and has authored many peer-reviewed manuscripts and textbook chapters.

What Dr. Budoff enjoys most about his career is building and maintaining long-term relationships with his patients which was what inspired his pursuit of medicine years ago.

Michael S. Ruddat, M.D.

Michael S. Ruddat, M.D., is a graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.

Dr. Ruddat completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin, where he also completed an ophthalmology residency and served as chief resident. Thereafter, D. Ruddat completed a Vitreo-Retinal Fellowship at the University of Michigan’s W.K. Kellogg Eye Center.

Scott D. Walter, M.D., M.Sc., FASRS

Scott D. Walter, M.D., M.Sc., FASRS joins Retina Consultants after completing a 2-year combined fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Medical Retina at the Duke University Eye Center, the top-rated retina program in the U.S. He is also the only Ocular Oncology specialist in Connecticut, having completed a fellowship in Ocular Oncology in addition to his Ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Bascom Palmer has consistently been ranked the #1 Eye Hospital by U.S. News & World Report.

Dr. Walter earned his M.D. from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, and graduated in the top 1% of his undergraduate class at Stanford University.

Dr. Walter is board-certified in Ophthalmology and also serves as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and received more than 20 awards for his contributions to Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, and a frequent presenter at national meetings.

Dr. Walter is the Vice Chief of the Ophthalmology Service at Hartford Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He currently serves on Executive Committees for the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians and the Rocky Hill Surgery Center.

Dr. Walter performs over 400 vitreoretinal surgeries per year (more than any other retinal surgeon in Connecticut) and is recognized by his peers as an expert consultant in ocular oncology, uveitis, inherited retinal degeneration, and other rare disease states.

Ron Margolis, M.D.

Ron Margolis, M.D., is an honors graduate of Cornell University and Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Margolis completed an ophthalmology residency at the Cole Eye Institute of the Cleveland Clinic where he served as Chief Resident, and a two year surgical and medical vitreo-retinal fellowship at Columbia University and the Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Margolis was the recipient of several awards including the Heed Foundation Fellowship and the Travel Award from the National Eye Institute.

Dr. Margolis is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Jerry Neuwirth, M.D.
